Privacy

Both Parents NC collects only the information needed to record support and manage optional email updates. We do not sell supporter information or publish individual supporter details.

What signup saves

We save your email address, five digit ZIP code, optional first name, your self reported North Carolina residency and age confirmation, the support statement and version you agree to, your optional updates choice, and signup and confirmation times. ZIP codes describe broad geography. They do not verify residency or a legislative district.

Support counts only after you confirm your email. Email confirmation proves control of a mailbox, not identity, residency, or eligibility to vote. Signing up does not endorse a finished bill.

How we use and protect it

Campaign administrators can access supporter records to manage support and respond to requests. Our website hosting provider processes requests, our database provider stores records, and our email provider sends confirmation and withdrawal links. Their systems may process technical request information needed to deliver and protect the service. Supporter tables are not publicly readable.

We use an empty field trap, a signed form token, and limits based on hashed email addresses and network addresses to reduce automated abuse. We do not save raw network addresses in the supporter database. Technical hosting logs may contain request information. We do not enable marketing pixels or email open and click tracking.

Optional updates

The updates checkbox starts unchecked. You can add support without choosing updates. Updates are not being sent yet. If you choose them, we save that choice separately from support. Any future campaign update will include a way to stop updates without withdrawing support.

Withdrawal, deletion, and retention

Use Withdraw support to request a private confirmation link. Confirming withdrawal removes your contact details, support agreements, and associated consent history. We keep a one way keyed hash to honor suppression requests and prevent further messages. It cannot be used by itself to recover your email address.

Unconfirmed signup records are removed after 30 days. Confirmed support stays until you withdraw or ask us to remove it. Used and expired link records are cleaned up after their retention period. Sending and webhook logs are cleaned up after 90 days. Short term rate limit records are cleaned up automatically. Removing records from active storage does not immediately erase provider backups or technical logs.

You can request access, correction, deletion, or help at hello@bothparentsnc.org. We may ask you to confirm control of the email address before changing its records. Please do not send children's names, case files, or sensitive family details.

Safety

We do not provide legal advice. If you or your children are in danger, call 911. Please do not submit information about a child or an active court case through signup.
